Hello and welcome to 'OC what you did there!', a new OC review/critique series on youtube. In this series, I will be taking submitted ocs and giving them reviews/critiques/advice on their art, design and writing. This is not a series where I riff on bad ocs, nor a series where I coddle the creators. I aim to be as fair as possible in my work, meaning I might say some things people can disagree with. It is important to note that my advice is just it; advice. It's not a strict rule you should keep and whether or not you follow what I say is completely up to you. It is perfectly fine to disagree with me.

Also, please do NOT go after any of the artists/OCs that I feature and harass them! These people are here WILLINGLY and are looking for advice/to better themselves. This is NOT a call out show!

Now, before you go and submit the OC, here is a list of rules/things you should know before you do;

  1.  You can only submit YOUR OWN OC. I will not accept an OC for review if it's not submitted by the actual owner. It is fine to submit for a friend, in case they don't have a DA account, but I must be provided proof of their agreement to their OC being reviewed.
  2. Please no joke OCs! Meaning; no blatantly bad characters that you made as a joke. I will treat your OC seriously, so should you.
  3. Both fandom and fandomless OCs are welcome, but I am far less likely to review an OC from a fandom I know nothing about (Like, lets say, a homestuck OC is probably not going to get reviewed, because I know nothing about it, but I will probably review an MLP OC, since I know quite a bit about it.) You are welcomed to ask about whether or not I know about your OC's fandom and how likely it is going to get reviewed.
  4. It's not necessarily going to be first come, first served. Although I will try not to neglect the older submitted OCs, depending on how many I get, I will mix it up to try and give everyone a fair chance at getting reviewed.
  5. You can submit your OC to me by sending me a DA note on this account ONLY. OCs submitted on my main account will not count.
  6. You can submit more that one OC of yours, but try to keep it reasonable. Also, only one OC per DA note, please! I want to keep organised.
  7. Just so that people know, at the end of the episode I will give the OC one of these ratings: A Mess/ Needs work/ Acceptable/ OK/ Good/ Great/ Fantastic/. Please do NOT take offence at these ratings. If there is a chance you will get upset that your OC got a lower than expected rating, perhaps you might want to reconsider submitting your OC.
  8. I may add more rules/info onto this list as I see fit, so it's best to always check it before submitting an OC.
  9. PLEASE fill out the below info list and include it in your DA note. I will NOT accept an OC without it.

  • Visuals: (Any art you have of your character. I HIGHLY REQUEST at least ONE picture drawn by YOU, as I will try to give you some art tips and the like. This section will be more brief without your art as I will skip art advice and talk about the design only. I also frown upon JUST base art (art where you use bases to draw on) but I will not turn it away. If the art is not your own OR if you use bases (or both), PLEASE credit the original artists/base makers. I will not accept credit-less art that has not been drawn by you. Please provide links to these artists as well.)
  • General info: (You can leave some of these details out, if they're not applicable, like the 'fandom' one if your OC is fandomless.)
                         ♦ Name:
                         ♦ Age:

     ♦ Gender:

     ♦ Species:

     ♦ Height:

     ♦ Weight:
                         ♦ Fandom:
  • Personality:  (I would appreciate it if you could write at least a solid paragraph here, rather than just a few words.)
  • Backstory:  ( This is where you write out your characters story and their place in the world. Please have at least 1-2 paragraphs.)
  • Extra: (If there's anything extra you want to add about your character, like their powers or weapons or little quirks they have, ect. This section is not mandatory and can be as long as you like.)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments of this journal! Also, do browse the comments before asking, in case someone else already asked a similar question to yours that gives you an answer you're looking for!

Is it okay if I put all the bio information in the note in case the picture I submit doesn't have it?
